Turning Crisis Into Growth

Over the past eight years, Spread Your Wings has worked to create frameworks that bring together young people with and without disabilities through shared activities, while also raising awareness to the lives and needs of people living with disabilities. The organization’s guiding principle is inclusion through growth and personal development. Since October 7th and the “Swords of Iron” war, the organization has focused its main efforts on supporting wounded soldiers and their families through a range of tailored programs designed to meet their needs.

Our Vision

Spread Your Wings aspires to a more inclusive, equal, and empowering Israeli society—one in which every person, regardless of their limitations or life experiences, can spread their wings and realize their full potential with strength, meaning, and purpose. We envision a world in which crisis becomes a catalyst for growth, and where art, culture, and social action serve as pathways to healing and inclusion.

What we stand for

Social Engagement as a Driver of Personal Growth

When a person chooses not only to receive care but to actively initiate change, they shift from the role of someone who has been injured to the role of a leader. Social engagement—whether through volunteering, entrepreneurship, or helping others—creates a sense of belonging and purpose, and allows a difficult experience to be transformed into a source of strength and inspiration. It helps break the cycle of loneliness and social distance, bringing individuals back into the heart of meaningful action and interpersonal connection.

Active involvement in community life or social initiatives enables wounded individuals to express their abilities, influence their environment, and challenge social stigma by demonstrating that disability is not a barrier. It helps redirect focus from pain and difficulty toward action and contribution, thereby strengthening psychological resilience and adding meaning to the rehabilitation process despite the trauma they have experienced. This courageous journey becomes a platform for leadership and connection within society, enabling wounded individuals to become agents of change themselves—people who inspire others and demonstrate that growth is possible even through adversity.

The Healing Power of Art and Culture

Art and cultural expression have the power to advance healing and recovery processes. Creative cultural and artistic activity opens a window to active engagement oriented toward the future, allowing individuals to express their thoughts and emotions. This process can help in the structured processing of difficult memories, reduce their emotional intensity, and foster a deeper understanding of the impact of the experience. Moreover, practices such as writing, poetry, acting, and other creative forms can empower individuals by enabling them to build a narrative around their experiences—an essential step in finding meaning and strengthening psychological resilience.

Artistic and cultural engagement can serve as constructive channels for navigating the complex emotional landscapes that follow a significant period of military service. Writing, painting, photography, dance, and other forms of expression promote self-understanding, emotional regulation, and a pathway toward recovery.
