The Need

The partners of wounded soldiers from the war are facing a complex reality imposed on them following their partners’ injuries in combat—lives that have been abruptly disrupted, with the burden of care falling on the shoulders of the soldiers’ wives.

The Response

The Spread Your Wings stands alongside the partners of wounded soldiers as they rebuild their lives in response to the injury and its consequences, driven by a deep sense of mutual responsibility and a strong commitment to women who have borne significant personal costs as a result of their partners’ service in the war effort.

The program establishes peer groups for wives of wounded soldiers across the country. Each group takes part in a structured six-month process of regular meetings, featuring content that provides tools and knowledge for navigating their new reality, along with workshops and conversations designed to offer inspiration, strength, and support.

The Program

As part of the ‘By Your Side’ program, groups of partners of wounded soldiers will be formed across the country. Over a six-month period, they will take part in an empowering process that includes trauma processing, practical tools for coping with crisis, as well as opportunities for rest and emotional relief. The group activity will enable participants to build meaningful interpersonal connections with other women in similar situations within their geographic area, creating a lasting community that continues to serve as a support network and sense of belonging even after the program ends.

The program focuses on three key areas:

Personal support for each participant in the financial, legal, and employment spheres, provided by professional experts to help them return to stability and routine.
Strengthening participants’ emotional resilience through a platform of mutual support, therapeutic emotional work, and shared social and experiential group activities.
Transitioning from crisis to growth through the development of social initiatives led by program participants for the wider community of wives of wounded soldiers—creating opportunities to give, create, and contribute rather than only receive, fostering a sense of purpose and meaning that supports the rehabilitation process.

The Numbers

Approx. 160 women who participated in the program and completed the group process
Over 140 children of program participants
12 new initiatives launched by participants across the different groups
93% of wives of wounded soldiers feel that no one understands them or knows how to support them
