The Need

Many wounded individuals who were previously at the center of significant and broad operational activity, and who contributed to the security of the state, wish to continue engaging in meaningful action. However, they often find a lack of frameworks that enable this, and as a result remain in a passive position in relation to their current reality.

The Response

The “White Sail” leadership program is an initiative positioned at the intersection of crisis and leadership. Designed specifically for young people injured during military service, the program focuses on transforming their resilience and determination into a force for positive change. Over eight months, participants take part in a rich and highly meaningful curriculum that emphasizes practical tools alongside inspiring encounters.

The Program

The program will include tours across Israel aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of Israeli society and its unique characteristics, as well as workshops that build knowledge and insight into different models of leadership, with a particular emphasis on adaptive leadership. Participants will meet with leading lecturers in the field of leadership development, as well as individuals who have demonstrated leadership through their actions and work.

A significant part of the program will be dedicated to social entrepreneurship—how to approach social challenges, how to align needs with solutions, and how to bridge the gap between idea and implementation. This component is woven throughout the program through lectures, workshops, and dedicated seminars.

“White Sail” is tailored to the needs of those who have already demonstrated remarkable courage and commitment. It provides them with the tools to channel their experiences into leadership roles that can drive real change. The program covers essential topics such as conflict resolution, public speaking, and strategic planning, all while fostering a supportive network of peers and mentors for each participant as they develop a meaningful social initiative.

The Final Journey

A concluding journey in the United States: program participants will travel together on a leadership delegation to the United States and be hosted by various Jewish communities. During the trip, they will meet representatives of different Jewish communities and learn about American Jewry. They will also meet inspiring individuals and prominent figures, further supporting their ongoing learning process and development as leaders.

The Social Initiative

All participants in the “White Sail” program will be paired into duos, and each pair will plan, envision, and work toward advancing a community-based social initiative. At the end of the training period, each pair will have dedicated time to work together both within the regular program sessions and outside of them.

Each duo will be assigned an experienced mentor with extensive knowledge and expertise, who will accompany them throughout the entire process of building their initiative—from the initial idea through to its full implementation.

The Numbers

To date, 35 wounded men and women have participated in the two cohorts of the “White Sail” program.
